An epithet of the Buddha.
When Upaka, the ájívika, saw the Buddha, and heard of his attainments, Anantajina was one of the names he used in uttering the Buddha's praises (ThagA.i.220).
Later, when having quarrelled with his wife Cápá, he sought the Buddha at Sávatthi, it was "Anantajina" he asked for. Ibid., 222; SnA.i.260; MA.i.389.
