The forest which overgrew Kalinga when it was laid waste through the wickedness of King Dandakí (q.v.) (M.i.378; Mil.130).
It was on the banks of the Godávarí and, with the Vińjhátavi, separated the Majjhimadesa from the Dakkhinápatha. It probably comprised all the forests from Bundelkhand to the river Krishna.
