An arahant. Ninety-one kappas ago he was a learned brahman in the time of Vipassí Buddha, and while he was making preparations for a sacrifice, the Buddha passed his way.
He spread for the Buddha a seat of flowers and offered him food. One kappa ago he was a king named Varadassana (Ap.i.160).
He is evidently identical with Suyáma Thera. ThagA.i.165.
