One of the chief disciples of Jotipála (Sarabhanga). He lived with many ascetics, in the country of King Pajaka, near the town of Lambacúlaka. He helped Sarabhanga to convince Nárada of the error of his ways. See the Indriya Játaka (J.iii.463ff.). In the Sarabhanga Játaka (v. 133), however, Mendissara is stated as living on the banks of the Sátodiká. But see Sálissara.
