The grandson of the banker Mendaka; he lived in Bhaddiya. Once when the Buddha was staying in the Játiyávana at Bhaddiya, Uggaha invited him and three monks to a meal at his house. At the conclusion of the meal, he asked the Buddha to speak a few words of advice to his daughters who were about to be married. The Buddha preached to them the Uggaha Sutta (A.iii.36ff).
The Commentary says that their nuptials were already in progress at the time of the Buddha's visit (AA.ii.597).
