A township (nigama) where lived Ghatíkára, friend of Jotipála (S.i.34, 60).
The township was in Kosala, and once, during his long stay in Kosala, the Buddha visited the áráma in which Kassapa Buddha had preached to Jotipála, and there he himself preached the Ghatíkára Sutta. M.ii.45ff.
