Dana

      'Almsgiving', liberality, offering. "He who gives alms, bestows a
    fourfold blessing: he helps to prolong life, prolong good appearance,
    prolong happiness and strength.  Therefore long life, good appearance
    happiness and strength will be his share, whether amongst heavenly
    beings or amongst men".

      Other kinds of 'dana' include 'Shrama-dana', ie. being generous with
    one's time and skills, 'Abhaya-dana', ie. giving sanctuary to needy
    beings, etc.
