   In 1982, Robert James Lee Hawke told Blanche d'Alpugst, his biographer:

'The logical attraction of Buddhism after the devastating experience of India
was a further part of my breaking down. I was never on the point of embracing
Buddhism but I found, and still find, it infinitely more satisfying than the
Judeo-Christian philosophy.'
