4 types of training events

There are more than over 130 Certified Trainers of Nonviolent Communication, all over the world. Nonviolent Communication trainings and practice events are available through four basic avenues:

(1) Certified Trainers independently produce training events.

These may take the form of daytime or evening introductions, half-day workshops, 1-8 day trainings, on-going practice sessions, and special trainings designed for specific groups or topics. Some trainings are day classes, others are residential.

For information about a training near you, contact the Certified Trainer offering the event. Note that the calendaring, specific curriculum, sign-up and registration for events produced by Certified Trainers is handled differently by different Trainers. The CNVC office does not provide signup or registration services for these events. For information or to register, connect with a Certified Trainer near you: [find a trainer].

(2) CNVC produces International Intensive Trainings (IITs) several times a year, in various locations around the globe. See [iit schedules].

An IIT is a 9-day, Nonviolent Communication, “immersion experience.” It is a residential workshop, facilitated by CNVC Certified Trainers, and typically involves between 20 and 80 participants. The purpose of an IIT training is to offer people the opportunity to live the process of Nonviolent Communication in community over an extended period of time, using this as an opportunity to develop Nonviolent Communication skills and consciousness. For more information about IITs, see [what is an iit?], below.

IIT registration is handled by the CNVC office. For information about specific IITs, or to register for an IIT, take this link [iit registration information].

(3) Sometimes, Marshall Rosenberg or other CNVC Certified Trainers will be hired by an organization or individual who is producing a workshop.

The CNVC office does not provide registration services for these events. However, references and links to these events can sometimes be found in the calendars of the Certified Trainers who are involved with the event. For example, see Marshall Rosenberg’s calendar: [marshall in ’04].

(4) There are also groups of friends, neighbors, or colleagues who meet together to study or practice NVC.

These groups are self-organized and are not supervised or certified by CNVC. The CNVC office does not calendar such meetings nor track their curriculum, but many people find self-organized groups helpful in meeting needs for learning and community. For information about such groups in your neighborhood, contact a “local NVC supporter” [find nvc supporters].
