The RoutledgeCurzon Critical Studies in Buddhism Series is a comprehensive study of the Buddhist tradition. The series will explore the complex and extensive Buddhist tradition from a variety of perspectives, using a range of different methodologies. It will be diverse in its focus, including historical studies, textual translations and commentaries, sociological investigations, bibliographic studies, and considerations of religious practice as an expression of Buddhism's integral religiosity.

The series will also present materials on modern intellectual historical studies, including the role of Buddhist thought and scholarship in contemporary, critical context and in the light of current social issues. The series will be expansive and imaginative in scope, spanning more than two and a half millennia of Buddhist history. It will be receptive to all research works that inform and advance our knowledge and understanding of the Buddhist tradition. The series will maintain the highest standards of scholarship and promote the application of innovative methodologies and research methods.

The series will include scholarly volumes by both established scholars in Buddhist Studies and new authors. Moreover the series encourages submissions from anywhere in the global community of scholars doing critical research on Buddhism.

RoutledgeCurzon Press books are distributed widely throughout the world. In addition to their home in the United Kingdom, distributors may be found in Ireland, the Netherlands, Scandinavia, Spain-Portugal, Germany-Austria-Switzerland, Southern Africa, the Middle East, India, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong-Phillipines, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, Australia, and USA-Canada.
