support mindfulness and the smooth running of the community.
Having received guidance initially from one of the senior
monks, by 1990 the nuns themselves had assumed responsibility
for the selection and training of new Siladharã and
Anagarikã.
There are nuns living at both Cittaviveka and Amaravati Monasteries,
and for three years (1997 -2000) there was also a nuns-only
monastic community in Devon. Currently, there are sixteen
Siladharã and eight Anagarikã.
The senior Siladharã at Amaravati, is Ajahn
Candasiri.
