With the site properly sanctified, construction work began in earnest with the first foundation excavations getting under way in April of 1995. A seemingly endless stream of concrete trucks filled the massive excavations and slowly a general outline of the Temple floor became apparent.

With the floor and supporting brick walls completed, the first deliveries of the timber superstructure, manufactured from green oak, arrived at Amaravati.
