  • Family Camp - Amaravati
    This will be on 21-28 August but regretably there are no vacancies this year. Bookings reopen in January 1995.
    Kitchen Help

    Rainbows
    An assistant editor is needed for Rainbows (the children's magazine). A position is open for an individual or a group; it could be an adult, a family or two teenagers over 15 years old who are willing to make the following commitment per year, ideally for two years.

  • 2-3 organisational meetings
  • Attend the 'Rainbow's Workshop' weekend
  • Spend 10 days at Amaravati for final production

  • Would you grow in the Amaravati Gardens?
    There is an opportunity to live and work at Amaravati as the Head Gardener. The position requires previous gardening experience, including knowledge of plants and some understanding of design principles; also reasonable physical stamina and the ability to supervise and work co-operatively with other people.
    Amaravati offers: The nourishment and challenge of spiritual community; opportunity for retreat; own room; a modest stipend.
    Amaravati asks: Adherence to the five or eight precepts; to meditation practice; cultivation of the spirit of service; a one year commitment if possible.

    Long-term Site Manager
    To co-ordinate on-going maintenance and renovation of buildings at Amaravati. A knowledge of the building industry is essential; involves researching options, writing work specifications, tenders, and seeing jobs through to completion. A retired architect or engineer would be ideal. For details contact the Amaravati Secretary.

    Lay men's Dormitory Project
    Renovation of the lay men's dormitory has begun, in order to provide more suitable accommodation for long term guests and residents at Amaravati. Help is needed for periods, long or short, from anyone with general building skills or experience, especially in carpentry. Please contact Lee Woods at Amaravati.
