Cittaviveka Notices:
Many thanks to those lay supporters who have offered help. We now have a computer advisor and a committee to organise lay events at the monastery. Richard Allen and Feroza Bannister have taken over accounts and Margaret Robbins will act as coordinator for lay people's offers of help. If you want to be included on the database she has set up there are forms at the monastery.
A recent meeting identified other roles that lay people could take on:
Librarian:
Cataloguing books and audio tapes, devising a loans/returns system, and chasing up late returns.
Publicity & Information:
Creating notices and displays, etc., writing notes like this, sending out announcements and invitations; using Chithurst's facilities (at present in a room only accessible to men), or your own.
Vehicle maintenance:
Chithurst has a car, a mini-bus and two tractors, all old. and needing maintainence. Funds can be made available to cover travelling expenses if necessary. Contact the monastery if you would like to help.
Hammer Wood Volunteers:
We have a small committee now responsible for Hammer Wood. Monthly work weekends draw a regular group of volunteers. They meet at 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at the monastery. The group enjoys working together in the forest but they could use more hands. Contact the monastery beforehand if you want accommodation.
